“My name is Maria Ines de Freitas and I am a veterinarian. The photographs I am exhibiting at The Geldart throughout November were taken when I volunteered in Uganda to vaccinate dogs against rabies with Mission Rabies. The project’s aim is to eradicate Rabies across the World by 2030. Rabies is a fully preventable disease and yet approximately 100 children die of Rabies per day.

All the funds raised during the exhibition will go towards my next volunteer trip with Mission Rabies.”

01. October 2019 · Comments Off on New art exhibition – Simone Parisotto: A Retrospective · Categories: Uncategorised

We are extremely happy to be exhibiting the photographic work of local resident, Simone Parisotto throughout the month of August. This is Simone’s first ever public exhibition and, in his own words, this is what it’s all about …

Hello Geldart Pub,

I am Simone Parisotto from Italy and I moved to Cambridge in 2014 as a Ph.D. student in Applied Mathematics.

Now as an academic researcher, I have the opportunity to visit many countries and meet lots of people, giving me different perspectives on the world around us.

Thanks to this first public exhibition of my works, I selected some stories that I see from my camera when travelling: from the charm of a flamenco dancer to the rhythm of a drum player, from the mystery of the Venice Carnival to the architectural symmetries of glorious Italian monuments. Finally, the rainbow tents in the Cambridge Market Square and the lovely punts will bring you back to a more familiar atmosphere.

I would like to thank my wife, Vera Di Stefano, for encouraging and persuading me into this adventure. Thanks also to the Geldart Pub team for hosting this carousel of photos.

30. April 2019 · Comments Off on New art exhibition – The Tiger Who Came to Tea · Categories: Uncategorised

This exhibition by ATELJE, is inspired by the children’s book written by Judith Kerr, ‘THE TIGER WHO CAME TO TEA.’
After a series of exercises in painting china, silverware, glass and fabric, ATELJE members were asked to create a piece of work inspired by the spirit of the book. They could work in any painting medium but had to work on a set sized canvas or board. They were encouraged to work in any style from abstract to figurative. The only thing they were asked not to do was to illustrate literally the story but to respond to the essence of the tale.
ATELJE work from Deanna Tyson’s studio in Fulbourn. www.deannatyson.co.uk
